Indian Immunologicals

Indian Immunologicals was setup by The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in 1982, as its unit, with the objective of making Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine available to farmers at an affordable price. The unit was corporatized as Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) in the year 1999. The plant in Hyderabad has a capacity to make 360 million trivalent doses of FMD vaccine.

IIL is the market leader in veterinary biologicals in India and operates one of the largest plants in the world for veterinary vaccines. IIL is also the third largest animal health player in India with the largest selling brand – Raksha FMD Vaccine. IIL is a major player in the human vaccine market in India, focusing on the pediatric and rabies vaccine segments.

IIL is a donor as well as one of the founders of NDDB Foundation for Nutrition (NFN). NFN launched its ‘Giftmilk’ programme in Telangana funded by IIL under its CSR initiative on 26th February 2016. The programme was later expanded to cover 4 more schools in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. At present 200 ml of sterilised flavoured milk is being supplied daily to 1500 students in programme schools in Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Nalgonda- Ranga Reddy Milk Producers Mutually Aided Coop.Union Ltd. (NARMUL) and Malabar Milk Union have been chosen as the supplier of the programme in Telangana and Tamil Nadu respectively.

The programme has received a positive response from the students, parents as well as the community. The students enjoy the milk and eagerly wait for the daily offering. The teachers have reported a steady improvement in the attendance of the schools.
